Make a Scroll Sawn Nutcracker Mouse Ornament

My wife came up to me and told me that the person who we were going to get to make cookies for us to give to the mice may not be able to make them in the time frame we needed. So I quickly came up
with these mice ornaments.

I sketched a mouse shape by hand and photo copied to create cutting templates.

I attached the templates with spray adhesive.

I cut them out of 1/8 inch plywood on the scroll saw then removed the templates.

The template is available below.

I cut some 1/4 inch holes randomly in the leftover plywood, the cut it into "cheese" pieces.

Then some rough sanding, a hole for the ribbon, and fine sanding.

My wife handled the painting and other artistic flourishes and lettering.

After the paint dried, I used super glue to fasten the cheese to the paws.

At the end of the story, the cookie person was able to come through. We ordered little cookies that looked like cheese to go with the ornaments.

Get the cutting template.
